Calico Pepper

The Calico pepper is a compact ornamental variety with beautiful variegated leaves. The plant, a member of C. annuum, grows to 10–12 inches in height and 14–16 inches in width, making it ideal for containers and decorative gardens. Its small right growing fruit transition from black to bright red as they ripen and have a heat level of 50,000 to 70,000 SHU.

Primarily grown for its appearance, the Calico pepper thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, displaying excellent drought and heat tolerance. The fruits are edible but have a neutral flavor which limits their practical use beyond heat addition.
