Cherokee Purple Tomato

Cherokee Purple is a large, dark-colored heirloom tomato. It produces beefsteak style fruit with great flavor.

Between this and Black Krim… my two favorite tomatoes for a classic Southern tomato sandwich. Duke’s mayonnaise, cheap white bread, a sprinkle of salt and a light grind of mild pepper flakes.
