Onza Roja

The Onza Roja pepper, originating from Oaxaca, Mexico, produces 3-inch-long, slender pods that transition from green to orange to red upon maturity. With a Scoville Heat Unit rating of approximately 20,000, it offers a medium heat level. The plant is one of the peculiar  c. Annuum that have fuzzy stems and leaves, adding a unique visual appeal – a trait also found with some Thai and Serrano. Traditionally used in Mexican cuisine, the Onza Roja is ideal for drying and grinding into seasoning powders.
