Zou-Pi Pepper
Zou-Pi, also called Shar Pei pepper, is a fairly rare variety and not one you see offered very often. The wrinkled fruit are probably the first thing most people notice.
Flavor and Heat
Heat is around 7,500 SHU. That puts it above a mild Jalapeno, but nowhere near Habanero territory.
Flavor is earthy with a little smokiness to it. It has enough heat to be interesting without taking over everything else.
Zou-Pi works well in stir-fries, salsa, sauces, or really anywhere you want a medium-hot pepper with a little different flavor.
Mostly though, this is just a strange pepper that you do not run across very often. If you like growing oddball varieties, Zou-Pi definitely qualifies.
