Nasturtium
Bright, trailing nasturtiums with round leaves and bold flowers. Colors for these particular ones run orange, yellow, and red. Plants spread easily and work well along edges, beds, and containers. They grow fast and don’t need much fuss.
The flowers and leaves are edible. The flavor is peppery, closer to arugula or watercress than anything sweet. I thought it would be a fun way to get the girls to try eating something straight from the garden. They thought the idea was cool. The flavor… not so much. It’s more interesting than kid-friendly, but still a neat plant to grow and try at least once.
Yellow, red and orange flowers, the Jewel mix.
