Brazilian Starfish Pepper

Brazilian Starfish is a fun one. The fruit have a distinct star shape and a crisp texture, with a fruity flavor. This variety comes from Brazil and is definitely one of the more unusual-looking peppers in the garden.

The fruit are usually around 1 – 1.5  inch across and ripen to bright colors. This listing is for the red variety.

Heat?

Heat is around 20,000 SHU, which puts it in the medium hot range. That is roughly in the same neighborhood as a Serrano.

Enough heat to notice. Nothing crazy.

Growing:

Brazilian Starfish can get tall. Five feet or more is not unheard of.

The plants also get fairly bushy and can look pretty cool loaded up with all those odd-shaped peppers.

Eating:

The shape makes these fun to stuff, but they also work well in salsa, salads, stir-fries, or on the grill.

Visitors to the pepper patch tend to stop and ask what these are. So, with that data point, clearly this is a standout pepper. 🤪
