The Zapotec Jalapeño is a Mexican heirloom from Oaxaca, known for its exceptional smoky-sweet flavor. The heat of this pepper is not overwhelming. It is in line with the heat of a run-of-the-mill jalapeno. The flavor is what makes this pepper stick out from the tons of other jalapenos – it’s a bit on the bougie side.

This variety produces peppers with mild corking— as seen with the tan crack lines running parallel to the fruit in the product image —adding to its distinctive appearance. Some enthusiasts consider it among the tastiest of all jalapeños.
