Aji Mango
Aji Mango (Capsicum baccatum) is an orange-ripening aji pepper, crunchy and fruity…. as one would expect with most baccatums. I want to be upfront that “Aji Mango” is a name used for several very different phenotypes. The one I’ve grown for a number of years, and keep coming back to, is longer with undulating lobes. The heat is around 30,000 SHU. It’s consistently productive for me and works especially well for hot sauces and for drying into powder.
You’ll see other peppers sold as Aji Mango that look very different. It’s a fairly generic term. Some are much thinner and more lemon-aji-like, while others are shorter and rounder, almost peppadew-style. So as a heads up: This listing reflects the specific phenotype I grow and enjoy, not a catch-all for every pepper that happens to carry the Aji Mango name.
