This is a vibrant yellow variety of the classic jalapeno pepper, developed by the Chile Pepper Institute at New Mexico State University. Known for its eye-catching bright yellow color when ripe, the Lemon Spice Jalapeno maintains the heat level of a traditional green jalapeno, but with a citrus undertone that adds a unique twist to its flavor profile.

This pepper was created through natural breeding techniques, which involved crossing an Early Jalapeno with a bell pepper known as Permagreen. The result is a pepper that starts off green and matures to a brilliant yellow, providing not only visual appeal but also a spicy, fruity flavor that enriches any dish.

The Lemon Spice Jalapeno is praised for its high yields.  It has fairly thick walls. This variety’s unique color and flavor profile make it an excellent choice for enhancing dishes like salsas or nachos, as well as for adding ornamental value to gardens and container plantings.
