Thor’s Thunderbolt
This pepper is a beautiful pepper with dark foliage. The jagged bumpy fruit grows in an irregular shape that can look like a lightning bolt. Fruit have a fascinating color journey – from dark purple, to a pinkish, to a cream. Similar to the ghost pepper in shape, smell, and taste – though it is more mild.
A strong growing plant, Thor’s Thunderbolt is a fan favorite. When showing off funky peppers to visitors, this is our go-to cultivar! It is a great example of variations within the capsicum genus.
Thor’s Thunderbolt has an estimated 400-600K SHU heat rating.
Growing Thor’s Thunderbolt pepper seeds
Here are the general steps for germinating pepper seeds:
- Choose a good quality potting soil that is light, well-draining, and nutrient-rich.
- Fill a small container with the potting soil and moisten it with water.
- Place the pepper seeds on top of the soil, leaving about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of space between each seed.
- Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil, about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) deep.
- Cover the container with plastic wrap or a clear plastic dome to create a mini greenhouse environment that will help to retain moisture and heat.
- Place the container in a warm and bright location, such as on a sunny windowsill or under a grow light.
- Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged, watering when the top inch (2.5 cm) of soil feels dry to the touch.
- Once the seeds have germinated and sprouted, remove the plastic wrap or dome and continue to keep the soil moist and the seedlings in a bright location.
- After the seedlings have developed a few sets of true leaves, you can transplant them into larger containers or outdoors into the garden, depending on the weather and growing conditions.
