Corno Di Toro Rosso Pepper

Corno Di Toro Rosso is a large Italian sweet pepper named for its curved bull-horn shape. The pods usually grow 6 to 8 inches long and ripen from green to deep red. Once fully ripe, the flavor becomes sweeter and slightly fruity.

Flavor and Uses

The peppers have thick walls and plenty of flesh. They work well for roasting, grilling, frying, and stuffing. Their size also makes them a good substitute for bell peppers in many recipes.

Corno Di Toro is sometimes confused with the cowhorn pepper because of the similar shape. They are not the same variety. Cowhorn peppers are usually thinner and hotter, with more of a cayenne-type heat.

Growing Corno Di Toro Rosso

Plants are medium-sized and produce well in warm weather. Expect roughly 75 to 85 days to maturity. Start the seeds with steady warmth, since cool soil can slow or prevent germination.

Heat Level

Corno Di Toro Rosso has very little heat. Expect around 500 SHU or less, with many pods having no noticeable heat at all.

I really like this one. It’s a good size and was perfect for stuffing with lasagna filling. Easy to grow.
