Golden Greek Pepperoncini
Golden Greek Pepperoncini is the classic mild pepper you have probably seen sitting in pizza boxes for years. The fruit are pale yellow to golden when commonly picked and have that familiar slightly tangy pepperoncini flavor.
These are mild peppers. There is a little heat, but nothing that is going to scare anyone off. The walls are fairly thin and the pods have a nice crunch when fresh.
Uses
Pickling is the obvious one. If you have ever eaten the pepperoncini that comes with pizza, this is the type of pepper you are looking for. They also work great chopped into salads, sandwiches, subs, and antipasto trays.
You can eat them fresh too. I personally think they really shine once pickled, where the vinegar and mild pepper flavor work together nicely.
Growing
Golden Greek Pepperoncini is a pretty straightforward pepper to grow. Give the plants full sun, regular water, and decent drainage. Nothing unusual there.
Plants produce well once they get going, and the peppers are easy to spot and pick. Harvest them at the pale yellow to golden stage for the classic pepperoncini look and flavor, or leave a few on the plant longer if you want to see them fully mature.
This is one of those peppers that does not need much explaining. If you like the little pickled peppers that come with pizza, grow a few plants and make your own.
