Golden Cal is a classic yellow bell pepper with thick walls, mild flavor, and no real heat. The blocky fruits usually weigh around 4 to 6 ounces and ripen from green to a bright golden yellow.

Flavor and Uses

This is a good all-purpose sweet pepper for salads, stuffing, grilling, roasting, and stir-frying. If you like thick-walled sweet peppers, you may also want to look at Corno di Toro Rosso or Corno di Toro Giallo. For something with a little heat, Anaheim or Early Jalapeno would be the next step up.

Growing Golden Cal

Plants usually reach around 18 to 24 inches tall and do well in garden beds or larger containers. Expect roughly 68 to 70 days to maturity. Give them full sun, decent soil, and regular watering. Like most bell peppers, they will appreciate warm weather and may take a little extra time to fully color up.
